Immersion Series

My Immersion Series is an exploration of the British coastline through the use of multiple exposures with pinhole cameras. This is a deeply personal project, both on sensory and nostalgic levels.

Having grown up by the coast, I have countless memories of my time by the sea. The vastness of it, the ebb and flow of the tide, the sound of crashing waves, all brought about a sense of wonder in me as a child. It still does to this very day.

To spend time there is a cathartic experience for me. Its immense openness allows me to breathe fully, and deeply. It is also a place of flux, where change is constant. In some ways, this mirrors our internal world, where emotions and memories of time and place can vary from the still to the tumultuous.

My aim with this series is to capture some of that wonder, some of those memories. Nothing is fully apparent or in focus here, much like when we try to recall fragmentary moments from our past. As one exposure dissolves into another, form and time merge, blur and fade, much like waves on a shore.

This project is ongoing.
